How the Ballot Works
Louisiana uses an open primary for U.S. House races. Every qualified candidate appears together on one ballot on November 3, regardless of party. You do not have to pick a party’s primary — you pick the person.
A candidate who receives more than 50% of the vote wins outright, and the race is over. If no candidate receives a majority, the top two finishers advance to a runoff on December 12.
